Who We Are
Wednesday’s Child, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization, whose mission is to facilitate the recruitment of foster and adoptive parents for children in the state’s care, to offer help to adoptive families, to support youth who are waiting for adoption and those who are transitioning to independent living.
Over 30 years ago, our organization grew out of the WLKY weekly news feature which highlights older children considered unadoptable. Viewers wanted to help the children they saw, but the station could not accept donations. Wednesday’s Child, Inc is not part of the stations on air initiative; we are a completely separate entity.
We rely solely on private donations like yours, which help pay for grass roots recruitment efforts (see Events) and things like school trips, music lessons and tutoring for the children, while they are waiting for a family. We hold events and information sessions to raise awareness in other ways as well.
Our number one goal is to help connect abused, abandoned and neglected children to a Forever Family.
